What is an online psychiatry visit like?
An online psychiatry session offers the same level of care as an in-office visit, with the added convenience of meeting at a time and place that suits you. After discussing your goals for the session, the provider will explore your psychiatric history and current emotional concerns/symptoms. Based on this conversation, they will develop a comprehensive assessment and personalized treatment plan. As your provider gets to know you over time, this plan can evolve to reflect your changing needs, allowing for an ongoing and collaborative approach to your care.
Why would I see a psychiatrist online?
Convenience
  • You can attend visits from the comfort of your home
  • Eliminates travel time and costs

Accessibility
  • Ideal for those living in rural or underserved areas where psychiatric care is difficult to find
  • Provider does not have to be in your immediate area
  • You are unable to see your local psychiatrist

Flexibility
  • Easier to fit into a busy schedule
  • Care can continue even if you relocate or travel often

Can you provide a doctor's note?
Providers at AAC Healthcare Services can provide simple forms like sick slips or back to work/school documents as clinically appropriate. Providers are also able to provide FMLA forms and/or disability forms for $75 per form (must be a current/ongoing patient). Be sure to request the documentation before ending your conversation. Please note that doctors at AAC Healthcare Services cannot provide handicap/DMV documents, as these documents require an in-person evaluation.
Can a doctor from AAC Healthcare Services order a prescription refill?
During your visit with AAC Healthcare Services, your provider will review your medical history to determine whether a medication refill is appropriate or if an in-person visit with your primary care physician is necessary. Refill decisions, including the amount prescribed, are made solely at the provider’s discretion. To support this process, please share any relevant health information, such as recent lab results or blood pressure readings. Please note that in accordance with state and federal regulations, controlled substances cannot be prescribed through telemedicine.
Can my children see a doctor with AAC Healthcare Services?
Similar to an in-person visit to a doctor's office, children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or a parent to see our provider.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about GLP-1 Therapy

What is GLP-1 therapy?
GLP-1 therapy involves medications such as Semaglutide and Tirzepatide that mimic the natural GLP-1 hormone in the body. These medications help regulate blood sugar, reduce appetite, and promote weight loss by increasing feelings of fullness and reducing hunger.
How do Semaglutide and Tirzepatide differ?
Tirzepatide also targets the GIP (gastric inhibitory peptide) hormone, offering dual action for greater weight loss and bloodsugar control. Semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic) is highly effective for weight loss and diabetes management. Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) provides enhanced results for weight loss and glycemic control.
How do these medications help with weight loss?

They reduce hunger, increase fullness, and slow gastric emptying. With healthy eating and exercise, patients experience gradual and sustainable weight loss.
Can I use GLP-1 therapy if I have diabetes?
Yes. Both Ozempic (Semaglutide) and Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) are approved for type 2 diabetes and support weight loss.
Who is a good candidate for GLP-1 therapy?

Ideal for individuals with BMI ≥ 30 (or ≥ 27 with conditions), type 2 diabetes, or those struggling with obesity and weight management.
What are the potential side effects?
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, and constipation. These are typically temporary. Rarely, pancreatitis or thyroid tumors may occur.
How much do the treatments cost?
Costs vary. Brand-name medications may cost $1,000–$1,500/month without insurance. Compounded GLP-1s are custom-prepared by licensed pharmacies and much more affordable.
Can I combine GLP-1 therapy with other treatments?

Yes. GLP-1s can be combined with diet, exercise, and other therapies. Your provider will personalize your plan.
How do I get started?

Schedule a consultation with an AAC Health Cares provider to review your health history, discuss your goals, and begin your personalized GLP-1 treatment plan.
